  • Structural studies of lignins: lignin model compounds, isolated lignins.
  • Structure-function relationship in plant cell walls: molecular arrangements, interlinking of the polymers.
  • Nanostructural studies of new compounds, including those based on plant cell walls and related polymers, for possible applications in biomedicine, biomaterials and biofuels
  • Development of mathematical models in spectroscopy of biological molecules of different complexity (phenolic compounds, lignin, proteins), in solution and in microscopic imaging. Application as a structural tool.
  • Biomass in building materials (concrete)
  • Application of Fluorescence techniques in pharmaceutical investigation
