Research

Department of Materials Science (MS)

The Department of MS is one of the best departments in its field in Serbia. Research ranges from the purely scientific to applied studies and involves perspectives of chemistry, physics, electronics etc.

1. Structural aspects of nano and other advanced materials.
2. Electronic materials (such as ferroelctrics, varistors, multiferroics, magnetic materials, sensors etc.).
3. Materials for renewable energy sources (such as materials for solid oxide fuel cells and photovoltaics).
4. Thick film/PIM technology and microelectronics.

The Department has the theoretical and experimental capabilities to solve scientific and engineering problems of crucial importance to the development of the science of ceramics, glasses, electronic materials, biomedical materials, composites, and many others materials.

Correlations between the synthesis, structure, properties and application, especially in a field of nanostructures, are of increasing importance because of recent trends in miniaturization and improvement of products quality.
Important place in our research has development of environmental-friendly materials, such as geopolymers. There is a growing research interest in this field becouse of great application possibilities, but also economical interests.
